CRISPY NUTS HISTORY
In the summer of 1995 the band SUPER RASCAL visited San Francisco on vacation when Hiroshi and Momoko were its members. When they were hanging at a pub, they were asked to play there on the spot. In the audience was an English man named Ben (the owner of CAWPAT RECORDS) and he really liked their performance. He offered them the opportunity to perform in London in 1996. Unfortunately the band split up soon after the offer, but Hiroshi and Momoko thought they should take advantage of this offer and in December 1995 they formed the band CRISPY NUTS with Masaki (an ex-member of TONIGHT). They wrote 8 songs within a month and had their first London gigs in January 1996.
Soon after coming back to Japan, they started recording and released the 1st demo tape (not available) in February. In 1997 their 1st 7" EP "LIFE" (not available) was released from CAWPAT RECORDS. After its release Masaki quit the band and Hiroshi and Momoko tried finding a new drummer, but in vain. They decided to suspend playing in a band. Having suffered unspeakable boredom in Japan, they went to London for fun and ended up staying there for about six months, when they met Satoshi. They asked him to play with them even though he had never played the drums before. After a lot of hesitation he joined the band at last! They had several gigs and recordings while in London. They performed with U. S. bands such as MU300 and FYP.
In 1998 they were featured on the compilation 7" EP "MONDO CONDO" (not available), and then released their 2nd 7"EP "WILL" from WRENCH RECORDS and the split 7" EP "TITTY TWISTER" with ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN from the Italian label ROCKIN' BONES. "WILL" sold 1,000 copies in a few weeks after its release and it has sold more than 8,000 copies so far. After going back to Japan their friend Makoto played in CRISPY NUTS in place of Satoshi. He quit the band after a few months because he had to focus on his own band.
Fortunately they found a cool drummer named Charlie (from SPREAD) and resumed the band. In 1999 they toured around Europe with BOMB FACTORY. They had gigs in England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Austria, which created a sensation. In 2001 Charlie quit the band due to a difference of opinion with Hiroshi's about the music the band should pursue. Because Charlie was a really good drummer, Hiroshi and Momoko thought they would not be able to find a drummer just as good. CRISPY NUTS disbanded in April 2001.
Their hope of forming a band again was lost and they spent most of their time drunk, but a lot of CRISPY NUTS fans encouraged them to get back together. Finally they reformed the band with Genki (from RETROMANIA) in May 2002. In the same year they released their first best of album "I LOVE CRISPY NUTS" from their own label CRISPYNUTS-LABEL. Genki was a temporary member and Yasu (from HYDRO CULTURE) joined the band. They toured around Japan with the German cool punk band RASTA KNAST.
After the Japan tour Yasu quit and they asked Shige(an ex-member of TAUNOIA) and Wassy(from STEREO LYNCH) for temporary support. In 2003 they had a fateful meeting with the really cool drummer Yatchin(an ex-member of SHOULDER HOPPER)! They released the split EP "KANPAI" with RASTA KNAST from NASTY VYNYL. In October they toured Europe (England, Germany and Belgium) again with YOURMINUS and ended it on a high note.
In 2004 they were featured on the compilation album "TO THE BITTER END"(VINE HELL PRODUCTIONS). In 2005 they were featured on two compilation albums, "JUST GO DESTROY"(DIONSUS PRODUCTIONS) and "SUIKEN"(NASTY VINYL).
In September 2005 they released a long-awaited album titled "WHO CARES?" from BUDDY RECORDS for only JAPAN.
In November 2006,They played with Punk's God ASTA KASK in Japan!
Then Yatchin left from CRISPY NUTS in April 2008.
Now, they seem they've got some ideas in their mind about the next plan.
Where are they gonna have fun in this world?...I've no idea,it's depends on their feeling. Like always.
Anyway, GO! CRISPY NUTS! STAY PUNK!
